Teacher has political ideas
Sunday, September 24th 2006
St. Petersburg Times
By TAMARA EL-KHOURYCLEARWATER - In the classroom, Countryside High School journalism teacher Carl Zimmermann gets to ask the questions.
“Who hasn’t turned in their last news story yet?” he asked his third period TV Production II class one day last week. This was after reviewing a news story about the school cafeteria (prices up, french fry portions down). “When am I getting them?”
Outside the classroom, political candidate Carl Zimmermann has to answer the questions, and they are tough.
Like, “what’s your solution to the insurance crisis.”
Tackle that.
He does. Zimmermann, 55, is a Democrat running for state House District 48. He claims to have solid solutions to the area’s major problems and boasts of having cross-party support.
His slogan is, "Had enough?".

Coverage
August 28th, 2006 — District 48, In the News, Media, The Campaign
Maybe you’ve noticed through the last few weeks that the only mention of the district 48 race in any of the local newspapers (be it the St. Petersburg Times’ North Pinellas Times, the Suncoast News or any other community newspaper) has been about endorsements or fundraising. The actual issues facing district 48 and candidates stances on them are passed over.
Suffice it to say, the citizens can right the ship — or perhaps that should be phrased as write?
Letters to the editor are another form of spreading the word about any opinion you might have about issues facing where you live, or issues that mean something to you. It’s important not only to remind the press that they ought to cover the issues, but also to tell them and the public just why you are supporting the candidate you are.
You can click here and email the St. Petersburg Times through their online form. Click here to send an editorial email to the Suncoast News (200 words maximum) and click here and email CN Publications which publishes the Countryside Cougar, East Lake Eagle, Palm Harbor Panther and Tarpon Springs Sentinel among others.
Redistricting amendment struck down by Fla. Supreme Court
March 23rd, 2006 — In the News
In a 6-1 Ruling, the Florida Supreme Court struck down the proposed redistricting amendment from the November ballot.
You can read the official ruling by the court here.
Though the ballot measure was struck down, this does not change the fact that Carl supports improvements to redistricting by a non-partisan committee.
In the News…
January 31st, 2006 — Carl in the News, In the News
The St. Petersburg Times ran an article on the District 48 Race this morning, to all new visitors: Welcome to the Zimmermann 2006 web site. The site has been completely retooled from it’s previous incarnation (which I would link to here but it will simply re-direct you back to this site) and still is a work in progress — but that is the truth for campaigns in general… They are living, breathing things that are always changing and adapting.
You can find links to Carl’s biography, his stance on certain issues and his resumé on the left hand menu. Contact and volunteer links are also included for you if you have a question on any number of topics stances on an issue, media inquiries and what not) or would like to volunteer to help out.
