If you are a driver in the Tampa Bay area, odds are you have an opinion on transit issues and how well or how poor the government responds to them. We’d like to remind everyone to take our online transit survey. The survey will close on September 1st and before then, we’d like to see as many of your opinions on things as possible on these matters.

Ladies and gentlemen, start your voting
August 23rd, 2006 — District 48
Primary election day isn’t for another two weeks but Pinellas and Pasco county voters can vote early on several races between now and September 2nd. For District 48 citizens who wish to vote on county-wide races before the official primary date, you can go to the Palm Harbor or Oldsmar Public Libraries. You’re also able to cast an early vote at Tarpon Springs City Hall. Of course, you will not be able to vote for Carl just yet — but there are a number of important races you can cast your vote on such as governor, county commission and school board.
We would also like to remind our friends in precinct 614 (east of US 19 and west of McMullen booth road) that on primary election day, due to the Palm Harbor Fire House on West Lake Road being rebuilt, your polling place has been relocated to the Lutheran Church of the Palms at 2250 Nebraska Avenue in Palm Harbor. For any questions in general pertaining to precincts and voting locations, please use the Supervisor of Elections Precinct finder.
Carl Zimmermann flunks Florida state leadership
August 14th, 2006 — Carl in the News, Media, The Campaign
Earlier today the Zimmermann 2006 campaign sent out the following press release:
PRESS RELEASE: Carl Zimmermann flunks Florida state leadership.
Monday, August 14th 2006 12:30 PM
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Pinellas county school year may have just begun, but Carl Zimmermann is already passing out report cards as he canvasses through northern Pinellas and southern Pasco county neighborhoods. T he Democratic candidate for State House district 48 and Countryside High School teacher graded state leadership on several issues that are pressing to Florida voters and is sorry to report that the state has failed.
“I think it’s important to dispel the perception that the current leadership in Tallahassee has done a good job. When I discuss the real issues with people, they are hard-pressed to recall anything that has come from the Florida Legislature that has actually aided them. The legislative leaders fail to act and protect homeowners as insurance costs continue to skyrocket. Those same leaders have failed miserably with education, health care coverage and property tax relief. While they FAIL the taxpayers, they are more than willing to PASS increases on our phone and electric bills. Just what have they done well?”
Zimmermann, 54, is a six time Teacher of the Year at Countryside High School in Clearwater, Florida and resides in Palm Harbor. A former advertising executive, he is currently campaigning as the lone Democrat in Florida State House District 48, which includes parts of Tarpon Springs, Oldsmar, Palm Harbor, Dunedin and Holiday. “signs” of the times
August 11th, 2006 — District 48, The Campaign
As the area around district 48 starts to become inundated with signs for the Republican primary candidates, we’d like to make mention that our yard signs will be coming available at the end of this month. Here’s the latest from Carl:
Many of you have asked when signs are going up. We will begin putting some up on private property just before the primary. Remember I don’t have a primary. You will LOVE the signs. They are very different and creative. Another wonderful design by Sarah Butz!
If you would like to make a future request for a yard sign, please contact us and tell us of your interest and location.
candidate forum next week
August 10th, 2006 — Campaign Appearences, District 48, The Campaign
Carl and the Republican candidates for District 48 will be attending a forum at the Palm Harbor Library next Tuesday, August 15th between 5:30 and 7 PM. While this is a great get-to-know opportunity regarding the candidates, Carl will be outnumbered 4-to-1 by the Republicans and their supporters. It would be nice to have democratic faces in attendance to show support for Mr. Z.
If you are planning on attending, feel free to RSVP on the Pinellas DFA Link page or through Myspace.com.
