August 31st, 2006 — District 48, Media, Team Z, The Campaign, Volunteers
Yard signs are due imminently at Team Z headquarters. Their design should be fairly similar to the sign that is visible on Carl’s "Report Card" hand out:

Many of you have voiced concerns about how Carl lacks signs in the district at current and we want to assure you everything is fine. Carl doesn’t face a primary challenge and didn’t want yard signs distributed too early as people will not be able to vote for him until the general election in November.
If you’d like to request a yard sign, please use our contact form and select "Request a Yard Sign" from the drop down menu. Let us know your location in the text field and we’ll make sure to get them out to you.
August 30th, 2006 — The Campaign
Due to campaign laws, starting at midnight September 1st, we will be in a five day blackout period where we are unable to accept any donations to the campaign. We’ll be back to accepting donations on September the 6th.
Thanks for your understanding.
EDIT: Online donations are now once again accepted as the primary election has come and passed.
August 30th, 2006 — District 48, The Campaign, endorsements
We’d like to announce Carl has received yet another endorsement, this one from the Teamsters Local 79. He continues to represent the working person as he has earned almost every
union’s endorsement and support including the AFL-CIO, state teachers, local teachers and support personnel, plumbers and pipe fitters, carpenters, electricians, iron workers, and many others.
You can view a list of every endorsement Carl has received to date by clicking here.
August 29th, 2006 — Carl in the News, District 48, The Campaign
Last Tuesday night, candidates of all parties gathered in Coachman Park for the Clearwater Chamber of Commerce’s "Politics in the Park" get together. During the event, a straw poll was taken on several different state wide and local races. Unlike some of the straw polls announced recently, this was bipartisan.
The results didn’t get much press due to timing coinciding the Gubernatorial debates, and that’s a shame because there was little attention of the announcement Carl Zimmermann won the straw poll for district 48 by 50 votes.
The final results were Carl Zimmermann: 108; Brian Flaherty: 58; Peter Nehr: 51; Ken Peluso: 43; Robin Borland: 23. Note that Carl nearly defeated the top two Republicans combined.
This should make it obvious that Carl isn’t a candidate to dismiss. He is a man whose intelligence and integrity people can see. Voters have had enough of politicians and their empty phrases. We all want someone who knows what is wrong, and how to approach the problems.
The St. Petersburg Times Political Buzz Blog offers more commentary on the “Politics in the Park” event.
This is only one poll and one small victory, but it should be a point for Carl’s supporters to rally around. It’s a reason to believe that voters will support what Carl has to offer regardless of party affiliation. It’s a reason for everyone reading this to do what you can to aid his campaign - volunteer, contribute, write a letter to the editor, request a yard sign, canvass with Carl, post a button on your web site and help spread the word. It’s very important for everyone to get involved.
August 28th, 2006 — District 48, In the News, Media, The Campaign
Maybe you’ve noticed through the last few weeks that the only mention of the district 48 race in any of the local newspapers (be it the St. Petersburg Times’ North Pinellas Times, the Suncoast News or any other community newspaper) has been about endorsements or fundraising. The actual issues facing district 48 and candidates stances on them are passed over.
Suffice it to say, the citizens can right the ship — or perhaps that should be phrased as write?
Letters to the editor are another form of spreading the word about any opinion you might have about issues facing where you live, or issues that mean something to you. It’s important not only to remind the press that they ought to cover the issues, but also to tell them and the public just why you are supporting the candidate you are.
You can click here and email the St. Petersburg Times through their online form. Click here to send an editorial email to the Suncoast News (200 words maximum) and click here and email CN Publications which publishes the Countryside Cougar, East Lake Eagle, Palm Harbor Panther and Tarpon Springs Sentinel among others.
