One concern I got is everyone in Tally looking out for Big Business. Wal-Mart costs the state hundreds of million a year and Florida is all too happy to give them tax cuts and incentives to open a new store — so that there can be more Wal Mart employees on state healthcare.
That is true Sean. That’s why Wal-Mart is one of the biggest contributors to the republican party. One more reason why we need people who will represent the people.
what do you think about oil drilling off the coast of Florida?
And what do you think about allowing windturbines off the coast of Florida?
I’m against oil drilling off of Florida’s coast. But speaking about oil, I am in favor of an investigation of why the oil companies have more than doubled the price of gas in the last 5 years, sent their profits to record highs (not just for them, but a record profit for any company in the country in the history of this country)and no one in the Republican party seems to object. I also favor breaking up the monopolies in the oil business. I think it’s time to have more companies and more competition. (I thought Republicans liked competition. They use that argument everytime they want to privatize) I feel the same way about the media. We should repeal the laws that allow one company to control the media in any market.
I also support windmills in the Gulf if it is proven that they will be effective. They certainly are in New England and in the South West. And what about solar? That’s our homegrown natural resource.
